Upcoming 30th Foundation Day and Intramurals 2012

In celebration of the continuing success of SPC since its inception in
1982, this coming October 2012 will mark the 30th Foundation Day and
Intramurals of Southern Philippines College. Guaranteed to be a grand
celebration, witness the talent, camaraderie, and sportsmanship of
students from all departments.

Join any of the lined up activities as a participant or simply be a
spectator, either way surely you won't miss the fun! Feel like
sweating up with the different sports and activities to be held this
Intramurals 2012. Enjoy watching the most loved basketball and
volleyball games and check out the synchronized moves of the grade
school and high school field demonstration. Get yourself entertained
with a variety show and talent show to be participated not just by the
students but the faculty and administrative members as well. Remind
yourself not to miss the breathtaking dance moves in the cheer dance
competition and also witness the graceful and stunning beauties of the
Search for Ms. SPC and the Mr. and Ms. Palakasan competition.

There will also be an academic event to be held in order for the
students to showcase their academic prowess. The annual festivity will
come to close with the Battle of the Bands event which will surely be
a remarkable one to end the celebration!


MARINE SIMULATOR SOFTWARE

Southern Philippines College proudly launches the latest in MARINE SIMULATOR SOFTWARE Std Config F5000 from TRANSAS, an international world-leading developer and supplier of a wide range of software, integrated solutions and hardware technologies for the marine transportation industry. The important features of this simulation software includes the following technologies: GMDSS, Conning Station, Radar Station, Visual Station, ECDIS station and Navigational Aid Station.


TRANSAS was founded in 1990 to provide the most advanced marine navigational systems. Over the next years, TRANSAS grew rapidly due to its commitment to the highest quality products and efficient service. The company is a member of world maritime associations, international work groups and committees and participates actively in new maritime standards development.


SPCs upgrade to the latest simulator software through TRANSAS authorized distributor SUMACS was made to make the BS Marine Transportation program at par with the best in the country and provide the nautical students with the necessary skills to make them globally competitive. In line with the upgrade, SPC likewise replaced all its simulator laboratory computers to meet the technical requirements of the software for a more dynamic navigational experience.


Modern Facilities at SPC

Students have a lot to look forward to in the coming SY 2012-2013.
Southern Philippines College is continuously upgrading its campus
facilities and laboratories starting off with the completion of the
new chemistry lab and physics lab, the upgraded maritime simulation
room, the new high school building and the addition of another
computer laboratory.  This is part of the continuing effort of the
institution to provide the best for its students to learn and practice
their course.


The Marine Simulator Software Std Config F5000 is the latest
installment in the BS Marine Transportation program. The state of the
art software is developed by TRANSAS, an international developer and
supplier of top-notch software, integrated solutions and hardware
technologies for the marine transportation industry. The newly
installed software includes the following: GMDSS, Conning Station,
Radar Station, Visual Station, ECDIS station and Navigational Aid
Station. In order to meet the technical requirements of the software,
the maritime simulation laboratory also have newly installed computers
for a better navigational experience. This is something maritime
students can be proud of as SPC boasts of the latest in maritime
technology.


As part of the Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management
program, SPC has recently completed its HRM laboratory. The laboratory
facility includes a kitchen, bar and restaurant area, and modern
rooms. Better enrichment of skills and knowledge can be put into
practice along with the best facilities available.
In the pipeline are further renovation and upgrading of all
departments to make SPC a modern campus committed in providing quality
education!


BS Information Technology

Southern Philippines College is now offering Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, after having been granted CHED permit No. 054 series of 2010. The newly opened program is now accepting enrollees for SY 2011-2012. With the increasing demand for IT graduates worldwide, SPC will push for stronger technological investments starting off with its new computer laboratories.   Tuition fees remain low to make the program accessible to more students.
